  • What makes Atlas Services different?
Atlas Services is a small, growing business just like yours. Our clients range from solo-entrepreneurs that do not have any staff to privately held corporations that have 100+ employees and several shareholders. We also have nonprofit clients that are just starting out & want to make sure they are ready to receive their first grant, to others that have multiple grants and locations and have monthly/annual governmental reporting.

  • What are the services you offer?
At Atlas Services we offer a variety of services. We do not “package” or services, but instead have a list of service offerings that are offered to meet your needs as they are today. The services provided adjust (add/remove) as your needs adjust. We are a growing small business and understand the struggles. Sometimes, all that is needed is a little support to stay caught up or allow the owner to spend weekends with family/friends vs working. Others are at a point where they need full time support, but it’s not a full time position. Atlas Services engagements range from being a second set of eyes all the way through being the “in-house” outsourced accounting and HR department. When acting as the “in-house” accounting/HR department, we request a generic email on your domain (example: accounting@yourdomain.com), so your customers/vendors do not know you are outsourcing unless you share this with them. There are no packages, use only the services you need now - adding/removing services as needed. We offer the following services: Bookkeeping Accounts Payable Accounts Receivable Including collection calls Monthly Accounting Bank & Credit Card Reconciliations on a Monthly Basis Full Balance Sheet Reconciliations on a Quarterly Basis Monthly Financial Statements Annual Accounting CPA Ready Year End Financial Statements Tax Sales Tax Filing & Reporting Personal Property Tax Filing Human Resources Payroll Processing, including Tax Filings Employee On & Offboarding Support Handbook Review/Creation Employee File Management I-9 Review Open Enrollment Assistance Compensation Packages HR Support & Investigations Fractional CFO/Controller Annual Budget Consulting Cash Forecasting Financial Analytics Key Performance Indicators Job Cost Analysis Merger & Acquisition Due Diligence Support Audit Support Assist with outside audits for both for-profit & not for profit entities Assist with SOC audits for SaaS entities
  • What is the difference between bookkeeping & accounting?
A lot of people, especially small business owners, use the terms bookkeeping and accounting interchangeably. In reality, bookkeeping and accounting are very different functions and those offering the services have a very different skill set. To be honest, the accounting industry considers “bookkeeping” somewhat of a bad-word. Bookkeeping and Accounting are both vital functions of any business - bookkeeping records transactions and accounting compiles the transaction to show the financial position of a business. A bookkeeper can be taught on the job and there are no formal educational requirements. Bookkeeping is the recording and classification of financial data. Recording bills, creating client invoices are examples of bookkeeping. This also includes recording credit card charges. Bookkeeping focuses on the recording of the transactions and collection of documentation. Accountants on the other hand have college degrees. Accounting on the other hand is the analysis and summarizing of the financial data. Accountants prepare and review financial statements that are used to make important decisions based on financial data. Accountants also work with management to develop budgets, forecasts and other tools that are used to make decisions based on historical data. Atlas Services employs all levels of accountants - clerks (associates degree), staff accountant (bachelors degrees) and senior accountants (masters degrees and/or 10+ years experience in the accounting industry).
  • How much do you charge? Do you have a minimum number of hours?
Our goal at Atlas Services is to reduce our client’s stress and administration workload. As our tagline states, We know you can do it all. That doesn’t mean you should. We bill all services at a flat hourly rate. As of 1/31/2023, our hourly rate is $95/hour for for-profit entities and $85/hour for not-for-profit entities. We do offer some discounts for verified associations (3-5 Club, eWomen Network, SHE Leads, The Dames to name a few). There is no minimum monthly hours in any of our contracts. On a daily basis all Atlas Services team members track our time to the minute. Invoices are created monthly & all hours are totaled then rounded to the nearest (up & down) quarter hour. By tracking time to the minute & not having a minimum number of hours required, our goal is to reduce our clients' hesitance to pick up the phone/send an email or text to ask a question or request something be done.
